Supporting disadvantaged communities to access the arts
The Kendal Poetry Festival (2016-2022), founded by members of the Brewery Poets, was created to establish a national poetry festival in the Lake District. The festival also aimed to nurture young talent by providing a platform for young poets in Cumbria to read alongside national and international poets.
As the festival grew, it embraced diversity and accessibility, offering grants to people from low-income backgrounds or with disabilities, and focusing on representing poetry voices from all communities across the UK and beyond.
Lil Creative Studio played a key role from the beginning, helping shape the festival’s identity through the design of festival literature and event displays.
