What is B Corporation (B Corp)?

B Corps are reinventing how business is done for the benefit of all people and our shared planet

B Corps are businesses that put people and the planet on par with profit. By committing to measuring and improving our impact on our employees, customers, local communities, and the environment, we are going beyond business as usual and playing a role in creating a better economy for people and the planet.

How did we become B Corp certified?

We undertook a journey to look at every aspect of our operations, and evidence how we consider people and planet alongside profit. It has been a year long process of going through everything we do at Lil Creative Studio; looking at Governance, Community, Environment, and of course Clients. Once we were ‘happy’ we had all our processes in place we submitted our business to B Corporation. Then we went through a three month verification process where we had to rigorously demonstrate our evidence. Anyone who has spoken to Claire over the summer may know how stressed she was about this stage!

Why did we decide to become a B Corp?

We don’t shout about everything we do here at Lil Creative Studio. From providing green energy hosting, building low-impact websites, to designing sustainable print, we view this approach as simply how business should be. Still, it’s rewarding to be recognised for our efforts. B Corp, a global certification, is gaining momentum, encouraging small changes across businesses to create a significant collective impact. As we move toward a world where people want to buy from, work for, and invest in companies making a positive difference for people and the planet, we’re proud to be part of this change.

What is next?

No business is perfect, and B Corp certification requires recertification every three years, so there’s no resting on our laurels! We will continue to improve on what we’re already doing and explore new ways to make Lil Creative Studio more sustainable. We also plan to share updates on our B Corp journey, our greener design practices, and our Business Impact Model focused on resource conservation.
